Administrative Assistant to the Director

Dear Ms.
Aviles-Medeiros:
I am writing
to apply for a position on the JDSF Advisory Group.
My activities with respect to Jackson State Forest
are well known in the department. I only summarize them here.
I became actively involved in reforming management
of Jackson State Forest in 1995, and I have continued my involvement
since that time.
In 2000, I founded the Campaign to Restore Jackson
State Redwood Forest. Since that time, I have been continuously engaged
in pressing for reform of Jackson Forest management goals to reflect its
status as a publicly owned forest.
For the last nearly two years, I have been working
cooperatively with the department to create a consensus among all of the
stakeholders in Jackson Forest. The Mendocino Working Group, of which I
am a member, was instrumental in creating this consensus.
One the recommendations of the Working Group was
for the formation of the Jackson Advisory Group. Our group recommended to
the director a slate of candidates for the group. I was one of those
recommended.
I look forward to serving on the advisory group
and to continuing to assist the state to manage Jackson Forest in the
broad public interest.
Sincerely,
Vince Taylor
